Eddie Murray hits 500th HR- 9/6/96 (74/85)

On the first pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning in a game against the Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles' legend Eddie Murray launched a split-finger fastball into the right-field bleachers for career home run No. 500. With that long ball, "Steady Eddie" joined fellow Hall of Famers Hank Aaron and Willie Mays as the only players to hit 500 home runs and record 3,000-hits. The 8-time All-Star received an 8½-minute ovation and multiple curtain calls as the home crowd celebrated his remarkable achievement.
