Dave Winfield records his 3,000th hit- 9/16/93 (14/20)

Hall of Famer Dave Winfield joined the 3,000-hit club with a ninth-inning single off fellow Hall of Famer and Oakland A's reliever Dennis Eckersley in a thrilling, thirteen-inning 5-4 Minnesota Twins win. The 1993 season was memorable for Winfield, who recorded his 500th career double (May 17) and 450th career home run (August 1). Winfield became the second member of the 3,000-hit club to have never played a day in the minors, joining Al Kaline. To cap it off, Winfield, a St. Paul native, accomplished this incredible feat in front of his hometown crowd of Twins fans.
